Folks are doing the request-a-drabble thing, and I'd like to hop on the bandwagon, but it ain't going to be free! I have a fic-related trivia question - first five people to answer it correctly can request a drabble. Give me a fandom and a prompt; it'll be gen unless otherwise requested (partly owing to this discussion of awesome over on [livejournal.com profile] tinman_meta). Fandoms I'll happily write in: pretty much anything I have an icon of. (Ask if you're not sure.)

I wrote a story a while back called The Key in response to a marvelous prompt from [livejournal.com profile] kseda, which was ostensibly a Tin Man/Return to Oz crossover. However, it also contained a further hidden crossover. I didn't say anything because I thought *someone* would pick up on it, but so far no one has mentioned it. It's a "concept crossover" - there are no actual characters from the other fannish universe present in the story. Answers are screened.

HINT (select the next paragraph with your mouse to see it): Remember the curse that was placed on Cain and Glitch. One of them was always an animal when the other one was human; they would switch periodically. To break the curse, they had to perform a specific action dictated by the person who put the curse on them.

Icon P.S.

The movie meme, plus recent discussions with some of my Tin Man peeps reminded me of one of my favorite movies EVAR and I just had to make an icon. Actually, four.

The drabble I requested from [livejournal.com profile] gblvr, in consequence of which I posted the drabble meme earlier, may be found here. Bring an electric fan or an icy drink, though, because it is HOT! And brilliant. She manages to make Spock and McCoy slashy and still bickering.

Thanks to TODS for helping me with a story idea! (Hitch's dream was his idea; I built on it!)
This story may be set after any episode in which Hitch is wounded and isn't treated during the course of the episode; since he is the Rat Patrol's designated pincushion, that narrows it down to about half-a-dozen. (I'm thinking maybe "Pipeline to Disaster" – isn't that the one where no one notices that Hitch has been shot until he collapses and falls out of the jeep?)

Last seen with [livejournal.com profile] gblvr: The first 5 people to comment on this post get to request a drabble from me. In return, you have to post this meme in your journal. Post all fandoms you're willing to write for. Added by [livejournal.com profile] shayheyred: a prompt would be lovely!

I'm interpreting "drabble" here in the loose sense - the end products may not be exactly 100 words. :-)

w00t! I got tagged again! Which means I can do this one with Christmas songs this time around. Heh, heh. You have been warned.

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

1. "Over the Hill and Over the Dale" - On this Day Earth Shall Ring, Anne Hills, Cindy Mangsen, Shinobu Sato, et al.
Exquisite take on the voyage of the Three Kings.
2. "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" - The Christmas Album, Rockapella
I am such a Rockapella-otaku, I can't help it. I also love their Christmas version of "Glow, Little Glow Worm."
3. "The January Man" - When I See Winter Return, William Pint (rhymes with mint) and Felicia Dale
These people usually do sea songs, but their Christmas album is quite nifty.
4. "Walkin' Round in Women's Underwear" - I am Santa Claus - Bob Rivers & Twisted Christmas
Need I say more?
5. "Exultation" - Wassail! Wassail! Early American Christmas Music, John Langstaff, Jean Ritchie, et al
The album is a nifty mix of styles; this tune is what they call shape-note singing and I love it.
6. "More Wood" - Voices of Winter, Priscilla Herdman, Anne Hills, Cindy Mangsen
One of those songs that's funnier the truer it is.
7. "Personent Hodie" - Thys Yool, Martin Best Medieval Ensemble
I play this for my Latin students every year. It's a very rousing version; one of my students said it made him want to go out jousting.

If I could pimp only one of these albums, it would be Voices of Winter; I would have a very hard time picking a favorite song. "More Wood" is just the one TODS and I happened to hear late at night on a radio station many years ago, inspiring us to hunt it down and buy the album. Every song is a gem; the individual voices and the harmonies are all amazing. Most of the songs aren't specifically Christmas songs, but rather winter-themed. The same trio also did At the Turning of the Year, which has some beautiful pagan/wiccan tunes like "Solstice Round" and "Away Ye Merry Lasses." I don't recommend it quite as highly; for my tastes there are too many sad songs in a row, and there's one song about a psychopath who kills her boyfriend when she mistakes him for a demon that just doesn't do a lot for the holiday mood.

Anyone who hasn't been tagged by this one yet and wants to do it, go for it!
