Quizno's rant

Slightly edited to remove identifying information, this is a letter I just sent Quizno's. Please feel free to pass this around!

I am writing to inform you of my extreme disappointment in the way your store recently deceived my son and a number of other college students.

Coupons were distributed at my son's university advertising a free dinner at the local Quizno's in exchange for participating in a promotion. Upon arriving at the restaurant this evening, my son was informed that the "promotion" entailed filling out a credit card application and that he would not receive his free meal unless he signed the application.

Fortunately, we raised him better than that; he was not willing to mortgage his future for a sandwich. He left hungry and resentful, and will never patronize that establishment again. He called to tell his father and me what happened, and we are furious.

Apparently now that colleges are cracking down on the unethical practices of credit card companies who prey upon college students, your company has decided to aid and abet their predatory activities by soliciting students for them under false pretenses.

As a result of this irresponsible and deceptive act, I will no longer be patronizing my local Quizno's. You can be sure that I will also spread the word to other parents so that their children are not similarly victimized.

Good for you! I don't like Quizno's food anyway. This gives me another good reason to stay away.

I actually like their toasty sandwiches and prefer them to most other fast foods. But their sandwiches would never taste right to me again, knowing this. Bad enough I trashed my own credit future at an early age; I don't want to see another generation sucked into the furnaces.

Me, too. I'm kinda hoping for a massive apology that includes much groveling and donations to a credit-counseling charity fund, so I can eat there again. :-)

Hi there!

Rox pointed me in your direction - we were both in one of your women's studies classes at SU... 99, maybe? Thought I'd add you and say hello! :-)

Coolzor, as Rox would say!

Glad to have you! ::thinkthink:: Hm, that was probably Gender in Ancient Greece. (trying to remember who was in that class...)

That would be it. SU is but a distant memory at this point. If it helps, I'm Amy, was a music major, did the theatre thing and sat in the middle of the tiny class in the front row. Somehow I always ended up in the front row.

If it helps, Here's my photobucket account with pictures to place a face to a name. :-)

Yup, that helps!

All I had on my computer was a list of last names (I think yours may have been last alphabetically although in a larger class it would have been in the middle). I started going through it, and I remembered Anderson very clearly - I knew that wasn't you because you didn't have Harry Potter in your interests list [g], and then the next name I hit was Dagenhart and I just stared at the screen and tried not to cry.

The funny thing was, I can't remember which one was the guy. Remember we had one brave male student? I'd have to look at the actual physical folder from the class to see which one he was.

But you, I remember. :-)

i remember him. I think he was traumatized from the whole thing, i also remember him as only barely speaking.

I heard from rox that you're in texas. I always find it interesting the locational splay-ing that occurs from people who at one time resided in central pennsylvania.

Glad to be in touch. :-)

I liked the hungry and resentful part, especially because it was true...
stupid Quizno's.
