[livejournal.com profile] theemdash turned me on to these. (This is ALL YOUR FAULT, Em!) I should warn you, gentle f-list, that these can be highly addictive!

At http://wordle.net, there is a program that takes any text you give it and turns it into pretty "word clouds" in which words are sized according to frequency. (It ignores extremely common words like "the.") It's fun to plug in one's stories, for example, and see what comes up. You can play with the settings to change the color and arrangement. Here are some stories I plugged in:

I had to start with "Scarecrow on a Stick", since that one started as commentfic for [livejournal.com profile] theemdash.

Notice that the layout randomly placed Cain on top of Ambrose. I'm sure that won't last. [eg] I am amused by the prominence of the word "boingy."

This was for a more recent, serious drabble called "Focus"; the story is really too short for there to be much in the way of word-frequency to analyze, but I just thought the visual representation was pretty, almost a form of poetry:

Here's a non-Tin Man fic, a goofy short Friends piece called "Not Kissing Joey". This one made me giggle because of the prominence of kissing-related words.
