I started this drama in November of last year and managed to finish it earlier this month. I watched it purely to see Liu Minting, a.k.a. Tim Minting, better known in Guardian fandom as the adorkable scientist Lin Jing, in a secondary role. I got to see more of him than I expected!

The slides I made this year are a mixture of shows I really love and want to introduce to potential new fans, (Guardian and Ancient Detective) and shows that were in the vid show for which we didn't already have slides (all the other ones below).

I'm already starting on slides for DC-Slash Con 2025! The next ones I make will be for Sungkyunkwan Scandal; I had made a set using my old computer and didn't back it up to the external hard drive (oops) ... and then the old computer crashed so hard that it lost files I hadn't even written yet, lol.

As seen at DC Slash and REVELCon!!!

Ker and Aaron of DC Slash encouraged members to make these powerpoints to recruit their fellow convention goers to their fandoms! They also sent us helpful templates. :-)

The recruitment slides were shown at various times throughout the DC Slash convention, and were a delight! I thoroughly enjoyed learning about potential new fandoms.

I showed my Guardian slides again at a REVELCon panel to convince my fellow RCon attendees to send slides of *their* fave shows to DC Slash, too. That's not to say that I didn't put my whole heart into this "sample" presentation and possibly convert a few people! ;-)

I plan to tweak them before they're shown again, mostly by increasing the font size on the dialogue captions.

  • due South folks, please let me know if I've made any egregious errors!

I participated in this year's Rare Male Slash Exchange.

I am now able to reveal that I wrote Negotiation, a Blakes 7 fic with the pairing Blake/Travis. I set out to write something dark and ambiguous and wound up with ... well, the giftee very kindly said that they chortled their way through it, so the "inappropriate humor" side of my brain appears to have won out.

I also received a brilliant Guardian story with the pairing of Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng, The White Heap of Black Words from [personal profile] dorinda, which I love to itty bitty pieces. As I kept saying at REVELCon to anyone who would listen, Guardian is a hot mess with lots of dangling plot threads just made for fans to grab onto and build stories around. Dorinda came up with a perfectly logical use for Guo Changcheng's mutant power, and threaded it into Chu Shuzhi's insecurity complex and immense potential for angst ... I've read it over and over and loved it more every time. ♥

I got a marvelous surprise from the Sundial Exchange today--a treat! For me!

Gathering String by glymr and yue_ix

It was completely unexpected and I enjoyed it so, so very much!

Just to keep things in one place, here's the list from my previous post

I wrote Wait Seven Seconds for UndeadRobins.

I also wrote The Netwielder for Dorinda.

And I received The hard part is what comes easy from Dorinda! ♥

I left detailed comments on fic, which is how I like to spread the joy! As a friend of mine recently said, feedback is like oxygen to writers. Or as another friend said many years ago, thoughtful feedback is like ice cream on a hot day. ♥

Here are links to the fics--well, three complete stories, one chapter of a WIP, and one poem--listed by fandom, plus brief non-spoilery comments along with the authors' summaries--you may find something that you'll enjoy, too!

I've never written one of these letters before! Um ... let me start by saying that I'm pretty laid-back and very very excited that someone will be writing a fic or creating icons for me!

When it comes to fic with Chu Shuzhi/Guo Changcheng, I've asked for angst and hurt/comfort (a particular delight), character growth or insight (always intriguing), or fluffy fun - I love CSZ and GCC so much that pretty much anything exploring their relationship would delight me.

I especially love it when all or part of SID is involved, because family.

The prompt I offered is "a clock behaving strangely," in case you decide you'd like to tackle a casefic or at least some SID-typical weirdness. I love uncanny/eerie oddness, competence!fic in which one of the characters unexpectedly figures things out, bad guys with interesting motivations (sympathetic or not). But I also love tender moments between action scenes and sudden realizations about the other person, that don't need to be embedded in a larger fic.

DNW: non-con, infidelity, domestic discipline (as on the form) and I remembered another one: fics in which the plot turns on GCC being stupid or clumsy.

[personal profile] noxelementalist recently turned me on to a Sungkyunkwan Scandal songvid by famous longtime vidder Mary Van Deusen, a character study of Moon Jae Shin to a song called "He's a Rebel." It was, as you might expect, really well crafted. I hadn't realized she was doing SKS songvids, so I went poking around and found a playlist with all her Asian drama vids here: Asian Drama FanVids by Mary Van Deusen.

Chu and Guo are basically ... Brutus and Pixie! In that order.

If you haven't read the Pixie & Brutus webcomic, you can find it at pet_foolery's account on Instagram and also, I think, on Facebook. It's about an retired military dog who is adopted by a family with a kitten. It's insanely adorable.
