Dà Qìng wants a place to stay over the weekend where he doesn't have to put up with other people having sex.
Author's Note: Fluff. Mostly kitty fluff.

"Hey, guys," said Da Qing, coming up on little cat feet to Chu Shuzhi and Guo Changcheng. They were sitting at the big table looking over reports.

"Hey, kitty," said Guo Changcheng, leaning down to pet Da Qing as the cat rubbed against his legs.

"What do you want?" asked Chu Shuzhi, sounding far less friendly. Da Qing immediately jumped up on the table and began rubbing against Chu Shuzhi's shoulder.

Guo Changcheng chuckled. "It's true what they say, Brother Chu! Cats always go to the person least interested in them."

"Obviously," said Chu Shuzhi, rolling his eyes.

Impatient with the byplay, Da Qing got straight to the point. "Can I come home with one of you this weekend?"

"Wait, what?" asked Guo Changcheng.

Da Qing sat straight up and wrapped his tail around his front paws, looking prim. "I overheard Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei discussing their plans to stay in and become better acquainted this weekend. I find human mating rituals distasteful in the extreme, especially when they--"

"That's okay, Da Qing," Guo Changcheng broke in hastily. "We don't need the details. Your motive makes sense."

"Yeah, but why us?" asked Chu Shuzhi.

Da Qing transformed abruptly into human form and sat cross-legged on the table, his chin cupped in one hand. "I would usually stay with Old Li, but he's not feeling well. And I can't stay here at the office, because Wang Zheng and Sang Zan are just as lovey-dovey as Chief Zhao and Professor Shen." He smiled at the two of them. "I figure Little Guo is too innocent to be in a relationship with anyone, and Old Chu is too grumpy, so I'm sure either of your homes will be free of that kind of behavior."

Little Guo and Old Chu avoided looking at each other.

"What about Sister Hong's place?" asked Guo Changcheng.

Da Qing visibly shuddered. "Cats don't like snakes. Zhu Hong is okay personally, but species-wise, there's no way I could live with her."

"Lin Jing?" asked Chu Shuzhi.

"Tried that once," Da Qing admitted. "He spent the whole time playing video games and never fed me!" He made this statement with such indignation that the other two chuckled.

"Well, all right then," said Chu Shuzhi. "You can come home with us."

"Both of you? Like, part of the weekend at one place and part at another?"

"You could look at it that way," said Guo Changcheng.

******

"Wait, this isn't where either of you live," said Da Qing as the three entered an elegant high-rise.

"Oh, I moved out of my uncle and aunt's house," said Guo Changcheng.

"So they're overly demonstrative too?" asked Da Qing. He preened. "I knew you would understand."

"They are certainly fond of each other," said Guo Changcheng. They rode up the elevator and he unlocked the door to an apartment. The other two followed him in.

Da Qing walked around the large living room, exclaiming excitedly. "Look! That is the perfect chair for napping! There's even a blanket on it. I hope you weren't expecting to sit there this weekend." Still in human form, he leapt up onto the chair and squatted down, rubbing his chin against one of the armrests. Then he jumped down and went into the kitchen. "Oh, very nice! You can make me lots of tasty meals." He opened the refrigerator, frowned, and opened the freezer. "I don't see any fish here, Little Guo. You'll need to do some shopping."

Chu Shuzhi nudged Guo Changcheng. "Should we tell him, Changcheng?"

Guo smiled. "Let's let him figure it out, Brother Chu. See how long it takes."

Da Qing went next into the den. A wicker basket sat on the floor with magazines in it; he dumped out the magazines and peered into the empty basket. It was just the right size for a kitty to curl up in. "I approve!" he called out.

Finally, he went into the bedroom. "Little Guo ..." he said, uncertainly, then in a more panicked voice, "Little Guo, come here!" Guo Changcheng and Chu Shuzhi came into the room.

"Yes?" Guo Changcheng asked.

Da Qing pointed to the bed. "Why do you have a king size bed?"

Chu Shuzhi sat down on one side of the bed. "We need room for shenanigans, you stupid cat," he said with a grin.

"This isn't my apartment," said Guo Changcheng, coming around to sit on the other side. "It's our apartment."

"But--but--" Da Qing sputtered. Pointing at each of them in turn, he said, "But you're too innocent! And you're too grumpy!"

Chu Shuzhi grinned. "But not for each other."

Da Qing began to wail. "I have nowhere to go now!!!"

Guo Changcheng got up and patted Da Qing's head. "There, there. The offer's still open. We'll close the door to this room, and you can curl up in the armchair or the magazine basket."

Da Qing looked from Guo Changcheng to Chu Shuzhi. "Will you buy fish tomorrow?"

Chu Shuzhi reached out and punched him lightly on the arm. "As much as you want, Fat Cat."

"Well, then ... I guess it's okay," said Da Qing. He stared at the two of them. "What are we going to do now?"

"We," said Chu Shuzhi, pointing to himself and Guo Changcheng, "are going to put a game on the television and make out on the couch."

"Ewwww!" said Da Qing. Then he looked at the clock. "Well, that's okay. I can go outside and kill something. Several somethings." The other two looked alarmed. "I mean vermin. Birds. Mice. Large insects." He wagged his finger. "You two had better make sure you're in bed when I get back."

"All right, Deputy Chief," said Guo Changcheng. "We'll do as you say."

Chu mock-saluted. "Obedience is our watchword. Now go kill something so we can enjoy ourselves." He reached out for Guo Changcheng's hand.

Da Qing transformed into cat form, hissed at them both, and fled.

He was very unhappy when he came home to find his hosts asleep in a tangle on the couch. It took a lot of fish the next day to console him.

So adorable. Poor kitty! Just wants a place where he can sprawl around and be spoiled in complete peace! :D Life around these weird bipeds is rough, I tell you.

Also, in my comment on AO3 I forgot to mention that I really liked the glimpse of off-screen Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan. Awww. ♥
