This Saturday's binge will feature Tatort Münster, Tatort Berlin, and Tatort München!

We'll be starting with Dornröschens Rache from Tatort Berlin, followed by Gott ist auch nur ein Mensch from Tatort Münster, finishing up with Wir sind die Guten from Tatort München.

Tatort means "Crime Scene" in German; it's an umbrella title for detective shows set in several different German cities. Tatort Münster is the most light-hearted and blatantly slashy, but other cities bring their own delights. These vids by Kerguelen will give you a taste:

The Escapade 35 Vid Show served up a delicious platter of fanvids!

I've made what observations and comments I can, but I would thoroughly appreciate any readers who are familiar with canons that I don't know, or don't know fully, jumping in to speak more accurately about works based on Wicked, Starsky & Hutch, Agatha All Along,The Professionals, The Terror, Dark Winds, Fangs of Fortune, Arcane, Heaven Official's Blessing or Our Flag Means Death.

In fact, I would also love to hear from *any* viewer with their own perspective on *any* of these vids!

The slides I made this year are a mixture of shows I really love and want to introduce to potential new fans, (Guardian and Ancient Detective) and shows that were in the vid show for which we didn't already have slides (all the other ones below).

I'm already starting on slides for DC-Slash Con 2025! The next ones I make will be for Sungkyunkwan Scandal; I had made a set using my old computer and didn't back it up to the external hard drive (oops) ... and then the old computer crashed so hard that it lost files I hadn't even written yet, lol.

I have made two songvids for the upcoming DC-Slash online convention!!! (You can click for more info about the con - the link will open in a new window.)

The convention is July 19-21 and the vid show deadline is July 12, so I actually got my vids in ON TIME!

There's both short, and one of them is to a Wizard Rock song. In other words, they're by me. ;-)

One is for the fandom Tatort Muenster, while the other one is about Gollum. They're premiering at the con, so I can't link to them now. But I am very excited!!!

Here's my report for the fantastic vid show at the virtual Escapade 33.5. I kept a window open and typed up notes while the show was running. A lot of it is still more notes than sentences, but I hope it all makes sense! An asterisk means that the vid premiered at this vid show.

I had marked the VIDS VIDS VIDS panel as a must-see and I'm so glad I did!!! Airawyn coordinated recommendations from Escapade attendees ahead of time and put together a great selection of vids in terms of time (older and newer vids) and space (Western and Asian fandoms) and feels (deeply sad, laugh-out-loud, and many things in between). The DC-Slash Con 2022 vid show, held last night (July 30, 2022), was truly a well-assembled collection of high-quality vids: kudos for Aaron for the terrific selection! SO many great vids, including several that made me want to start watching the show they were based on right now.

I had some favorites I'd like to mention--I'll write up something more comprehensive later, but I want to get some first impressions down now.

N.B. AARGH, I am going through the list and in order to keep this post reasonably doable tonight, I am skipping SO MANY EXCELLENT vids!!! These are not necessarily the best--they're the ones that made a big impression on me.

And there were many more wonderful vids that I hope to cover in a longer report someday soon!!!

I watched Starsky & Hutch casually in the 1970's, but I never got bitten by the fannish bug for it. Still, since I know the main characters and a few of the plotlines, I generally enjoy S&H fanvids--and wow, this year's SHareCon, which ran from October 15-17, 2021, had some great ones!

There were actually three vid shows: the premiering vids, the dance party, and the historical vids. I took notes on the Premiering Vid Show, which was very impressive. And fun to watch!

A couple of notes: A. The vids were pretty much all slash, and B. There are probably subtleties in these vids that I didn't catch, and if anyone wants to share their knowledge to clarify things I missed or misinterpreted--I would love to have learningz!!!

I took notes for a vid show report, of course, but it'll be a while before I type it up. In the meantime, however, I just HAVE to squee about the vid that moved into my heart and took up residence.

The first time I watched this vid, I saw the "eternal flame" of love between Holmes and Watson. The second or third time, I also thought of the "eternal flame" of love that fandom has long held for those two--the first fanfic I ever read was a collection of Holmesian "pastiches"--and how beautifully you depict so many different variations on the beloved Canon, as fandom continues its love across centuries and continents. ♥ ♥ ♥

There were many fine vids in the DC Slash 2021 vid show, but this one stood out as my very favorite. Thank you so much for all the time and talent you put into it for us to enjoy!"

The DC Slash Con(formerly ConneXions) was held online this weekend, and a new vid of mine premiered in the vid show. The song is "The Court of the Crimson King," and the vid focuses on a single arc spanning roughly four episodes of Nirvana in Fire.

I redid the second verse of my "Senior Service" mini-vid, which I wasn't completely happy with. I think the clips go with the lyrics better now. Maybe one of these days I'll catch up with the Vexercises, good Lord willin' and the crick don't rise.

The short version: I thoroughly enjoyed this vid show! I can't give the vidders the feedback they deserve on all of the vids, since I didn't know all the fandoms. But I was tickled that I did recognize more of the fandoms than usual, and the vids were great!

noxelementalist recently turned me on to a Sungkyunkwan Scandal songvid by famous longtime vidder Mary Van Deusen, a character study of Moon Jae Shin to a song called "He's a Rebel." It was, as you might expect, really well crafted. I hadn't realized she was doing SKS songvids, so I went poking around and found a playlist with all her Asian drama vids here: Asian Drama FanVids by Mary Van Deusen.

I beta'd a vid for a friend of mine, who very kindly made it a gift to me on AO3. The vid is based on a video game, Red Dead Redeemed 2, but I found that I didn't have to have played the game to enjoy the vid. It's set to a melancholy, thought-provoking folk song, with a backbeat that fits well with the cowboy flavor of the game, and I absolutely love how the clips flow to the music. My favorite verse is the one beginning, "Miller take me, miller grind me, scatter my bones on the wild green tide," but they're all well-done. Take a look!!!
