The Escapade 35 Vid Show served up a delicious platter of fanvids!

I've made what observations and comments I can, but I would thoroughly appreciate any readers who are familiar with canons that I don't know, or don't know fully, jumping in to speak more accurately about works based on Wicked, Starsky & Hutch, Agatha All Along,The Professionals, The Terror, Dark Winds, Fangs of Fortune, Arcane, Heaven Official's Blessing or Our Flag Means Death.

In fact, I would also love to hear from *any* viewer with their own perspective on *any* of these vids!

Here's my report for the fantastic vid show at the virtual Escapade 33.5. I kept a window open and typed up notes while the show was running. A lot of it is still more notes than sentences, but I hope it all makes sense! An asterisk means that the vid premiered at this vid show.

I had marked the VIDS VIDS VIDS panel as a must-see and I'm so glad I did!!! Airawyn coordinated recommendations from Escapade attendees ahead of time and put together a great selection of vids in terms of time (older and newer vids) and space (Western and Asian fandoms) and feels (deeply sad, laugh-out-loud, and many things in between). Madam Jin understood that this was the way of things. Acknowledge nothing. Maintain your dignity.

Madam Jin knew she could teach Jiang Yanli how to survive in the Jin household. Yanli could learn to echo her ways, to achieve her bitter triumph.

Then Yanli lit up like a blazing temple of righteousness, demanding an apology from Jin Zixun on behalf of her brother. And it was Madam Jin who learned, who echoed Yanli, who achieved a new kind of triumph.

The short version: I thoroughly enjoyed this vid show! I can't give the vidders the feedback they deserve on all of the vids, since I didn't know all the fandoms. But I was tickled that I did recognize more of the fandoms than usual, and the vids were great!

I participated in a fannish charity auction a while back and one of the items I won was a fic by

bemused_writer. It was completed & posted earlier this month and I ♥ it so much!!!

You can find it on AO3 here: The Waylaid Festival.

It's a marvelous gen/pre-slash (Lan Sizhui/Lan Wingyi) tale in which the ducklings go to a festival and get pulled unwittingly into an adventure. It's got humor, it's got idiots-in-love, it's got an actual plot with an interesting ghost problem, and in the background we glimpse Lan Wangji being Best Dad. It's set before Wei Wuxian's return, so the parts with Lan Wangji being a dad are melancholy, but also sweet. Highly recommended!!!

How can I be into multiple fandoms right now? I don't DO THAT. I MEAN WHAT. (Okay, I have a couple of fandoms that are always simmering in the background, like Barney Miller and Star Trek, but I'm usually *really into* just one fandom at a time.)

So right now, I'm still pretty wild about Rat Patrol. And I've gone head-over-heels for The Untamed. And I just finished watching Guardian, another C-drama based on a danmei (gay romance) novel.
