"Pinky Violence" is a nickname given to Japanese movies of the 1970's featuring female protagonists plus lots and lots and lots of sex and violence. We saw Sex and Fury a few years ago, and eventually bought it when no one else rented it and the vid store put it on sale cheap. We also picked up its sequel, Female Yakuza Tale, which we finally got around to watching tonight.
Female Yakuza Tale is even more gruesomely over-the-top than its predecessor. You can almost hear the director wondering aloud, "How can I top a battle with a completely naked swordswoman demolishing a pack of guys? I know! I'll have a WHOLE BUNCH of completely naked swordswomen demolishing a pack of guys!" A lot of the sex scenes are weird and/or disturbing, and there's a lot of squickiness in the rather nonsensical drug-smuggling plot that I'd rather not go into. And this movie has a thing for chopped-off fingers. Nonetheless it's entertaining in a trashy guilty-pleasure weird sort of way.
