Sad news for Trek fans & a brief anecdote
Jul. 20th, 2005 12:20 pmI was sorry to read today in
gblvr's journal that James Doohan has passed away.
I saw him once at a convention - I've only been to a few actor cons, but his was one of them. This was about twenty years ago, I guess, and he was delightful, very professional and very funny. Someone in the audience asked him how much Paramount was paying him to do the next Trek movie - this would have been #5 or #6, IIRC. There was a collective not-quite-gasp, because this was really a very personal question, but Jimmy Doohan simply smiled and said, "More money than you'll ever see in your lifetime." And we all cheered.
