I'm still working on a longer story with lots of angst, but in the meantime, [livejournal.com profile] avari_maethor's challenge inspired me with happy fluffy thoughts. So this is my first completed Tin Man fic, and I hope y'all enjoy!

Title: Silhouetted 1/1
Author: Amedia
Summary: DG watches shadows after twilight.
Rating: PG-13 for implied naughtiness
Warning: Slash. Cain/Glitch
Disclaimer: This story is based on characters and situations created and owned by Imagiquest Entertainment. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.
Note: Response to challenge #3 from this post by [livejournal.com profile] avari_maethor. Actually it includes #5 as well, although it wasn't intentional. Originally posted here ([livejournal.com profile] tin_and_straw) and here ([livejournal.com profile] glitch_wyatt).

Sometimes DG was homesick for a place where she had never felt at home.

Sometimes she left the castle at twilight and wandered around the grounds, trying to relearn what she had always already known.

Sometimes she sat and watched how the sunset turned all the castle windows to shimmering amber.

One night, she stayed out later than usual, watching the stars come out in the night-blue sky. As she turned back, she realized that, in the rooms where lights were on and curtains were open, the castle windows had turned into shadow plays.

There were the Queen and Ahamo - she wasn't quite used to calling them Mother and Father - doing a slow dance around their room. DG smiled to see them so happy. There was Toto in one of the classrooms, sitting across a table from Azkadellia, with a crystal ball between them. That's right, she's having her lessons now, DG remembered. The sisters had a lot of catching up to do, together and separately, in the classroom and out of it.

And up there - she was getting the hang of the layout of the palace - there was Glitch's room. But wasn't that Mr. Cain's shadow? It was faint; there weren't many lights on, maybe just a candle or two. But she was sure she recognized the hat. Funny, she didn't see the outline of a collar... hey, she thought, he's just wearing a hat. And there's Glitch. The two silhouettes moved closer together, and... OH MY, she thought. I am SO not in Kansas anymore.

Then she saw Cain blow out the candle, and the most interesting set of silhouettes disappeared. It was starting to get chilly; DG went back toward the castle, where there was warmth and light, and all kinds of love.

It makes me so happy that you're writing in this fandom :) Very nice! I'd love to watch that set of silhouettes myself!
