Cain never forgot what it was like to see Glitch fight that first time. He'd been entranced by Glitch's intensity, his focus, the effortless coordination that moved more quickly than thought. In those moments, Glitch had tapped into a level of himself far below the jagged currents and riptides that tossed and jumbled the surface layers of his brain, plunging into the still and peaceful depths where his soul dwelt in wholeness. The beauty of it had taken Cain's breath away.

Cain lost his breath on a regular basis these days; Glitch made love with the same intensity and focus.
