Meh.

About fifteen minutes in, I was like, "bored now." It did get more interesting as it went along. I liked the subplot with the Padawan, although as for Asoka herself, I've seen better OFC's in fanfic. All the female characters were highly sexualized in a way that doesn't happen so much in the live-action movies. I mean, Padme's butt was just so ROUND and OUT THERE. Padme herself was very OOC, way too naive and incompetent to be the experienced politico we saw in the movies. Jabba's flamboyantly gay Uncle Zero was a hoot. Most of the voices were imitated, and I was incredibly impressed with whoever was doing Count Dooku's voice - turned out it was really Christopher Lee! Go him.

The one thing I really liked was how this movie extended the time period that we saw too little of in the first trilogy, when Anakin and Obi-Wan are both adult Jedi and working together on the side of good.

I've overall heard either "meh" or blatantly bad reviews of this movie, and that's sad, because I thought it looked like such a cool idea - such potential - I really wanted it to be good. Blah.

I actually did a review of this for a buddy at LFM and I told him the most offensive aspect was that of the women. They make Padme stupid. They gave young girls the "role model" of the padawan who does little but whine.

The TV show has actually improved my opinion, but because it does what you also like -- extending the time period.

This is one of my pet peeves...

While I'm a Luke fan from the original trilogy, the character that caught my attention for the prequel is Padme. There is so little development of her in the films, and the "accessory pieces" like this only make her worse. And the books - where is she? Where are the stories of what happened between film 1 and 2 with her?

It doesn't surprise me that Christopher Lee did his own voice work. He is 87. Like so many of the great, aging actors he still enjoys working and has an ingrained work ethic.
