Fluffy and forgettable; the plot was rather silly and extremely predictable, but the movie was nonetheless a lot of fun.

There's a sequence that goes from an awesome fight scene with Jackie Chan and a woman assassin straight into a motorcycles-vs.-taxicab chase with a taxicab driver who wants to be an American superspy that is just loaded with clever stunts and overall hilarity.

There's a goofy place in the middle where our heroes quarrel and the soundtrack plays "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word" while they separately think about each other. Really, amateurs - by which I mean movie directors - shouldn't try to make slash music videos.

The bit early on with the nun translating for the French-speaking criminal could have been appallingly tasteless but I found the scene very funny the way they played it. Lots of great Parisian scenery and a climactic battle on, in, and around the Eiffel Tower.

I find myself increasingly sad about how Jackie's finishing up his action-movie career with really substandard American films. To me, the laughable quality of the films overall just underscore the fact that he's gotten too old to do the stuff he used to be able to do. It's a shame they aren't instead making movies that are good on their own and then enhanced by the occasional showcasing of what Chan can still do.

(And I realize now that I'm totally harshing on your "this movie was a lot of fun" buzz. Sorry!)

That would be much better. *nodnod* Don't worry about harshing the buzz - discussion is great!

I avoided this movie solely because of Chris Tucker. I loathe him and am very sad to have missed Jackie. :( It sounds fun. Perhaps I could just leave the sound off to be able to deal with C. Tucker's voice... captioning is wonderful.
