KITTENSQUEE!

We got a kitten in August to keep our older cat company.
He initially looked like a dust mouse with a rat tail:

Pom at 5 weeks old
Now he is more recognizably a small cat:

Pom at 2 months old
Dabi has adopted a long-suffering expression:

This was my chair!
But Dabi's idea of winning a battle is to hold Pom down and give him a bath:

and they are finally beginning to snuggle together on occasion.

Date: 2004-09-21 08:55 am (UTC)Yeah, we'd never gotten a kitten that young before - he was a rescue - and it was a while before he looked like a real cat.

Date: 2004-09-22 05:59 pm (UTC)We can hardly believe the chain of chances that led us to him - this vet was recommended by a couple of O's students, and I happened to call about setting up an appointment to get a kitten from the pound checked out, and this one receptionist, who is only there once in a while, just happened to like the sound of my voice and asked, "have you actually gotten a kitten yet? 'Cause we found this orphan kitten at my mother-in-law's place and I've been hand-raising it and it's ready to go to a home..." And we've been thrilled with this kitten; he's just what we wanted. So it's like it was Meant To Be.
love that kitty icon by the way.
Thanks! Bouhaki was a wonderful kitty that we had when we lived in Austin. He's actually very young in that picture - the pound thought he was a domestic shorthair, but he turned out to be a Maine Coon - absolutely enormous, very gentle and affectionate, rather dim and clumsy, but extremely sweet.

Date: 2004-09-21 02:52 pm (UTC)I do all right with short term visits, but I couldn't live with a kitty 24/7.
Your icon is way way cool, btw. :-)
You like that, eh? I'm giving you a pretty Fraser one now. :) I see your response down there to ckr. I'd love to pimp you into the way of Mountie. LOL

Dabi & Pom
Date: 2004-09-21 08:57 am (UTC)Re: Dabi & Pom
Date: 2004-09-21 09:15 am (UTC)We try to give him lovin' on a regular basis. He seems so much happier than he was before we got Pom - he had been extremely clingy since Cheshire passed away and you couldn't sit down without having him in your lap. Now he still likes to be in the same room with his people, but he finds his own place to lie down and relax.
While I'm sure the family still misses Ches, this is a wonderful thing to see.
It's especially sweet seeing Dabi treat Pom the way Ches used to treat Dabi.
Just what I needed. Thanks honey *HUG*
I'm so glad! *hugs back*
