Title: Winter
Author: Amedia
Fandom: Tin Man
Word Count: 200
Rating: G
Pairing: Glitch/Cain
Summary: There's too much snow.
Author's Note: Response to [livejournal.com profile] derien's request for a Glitch/Wyatt drabble involving winter, blue, or contentment (without necessarily using the actual words). I had them all in mind while writing this, but I think "winter" is the one that mostly came through. (Possibly because the reason I'm at home to write this is a snow day!)

The snow was still falling, its crystalline surface reflecting the pink and gold of the sunrise. "It was picturesque last night," said Glitch, pointing out the window. "Now it's redundant."

Cain smiled. "Is this your way of telling me that you're cold?" He rolled over and wrapped an arm around Glitch.

Glitch was still thinking about the snow. "It's just ... there's too much now. We might need more precipitation later and not get it. Somebody ought to build something to fix that." He was propped up on one elbow; Cain could feel tension bunching in Glitch's shoulders.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Cain asked. "You wouldn't want something like that to fall into the wrong hands." He stopped himself from saying, look what happened last time, but he knew Glitch was thinking it, anyway. He rubbed the back of Glitch's neck, hoping to take the sting out of the unspoken words, and felt Glitch begin to relax.

"I suppose nature can take care of itself," said Glitch with a sigh, lying back against Cain. "I just don't like the cold. I've had enough of it to last me a lifetime."

"You and me both, sweetheart," said Cain.

Awwwww, so sweet.

Though I must admit... I've had enough of it to last me a lifetime makes my angsty muse stand at attention.

Your angsty muse has good instincts!

I was originally going to have Cain say that he understood because metal conducts cold so well, and they both suffered from it for a long time (him in the suit, Glitch with the zipper) - I mean, have you ever gone outside without a hat, wearing long dangly earrings, on a really cold day? Brrrr!!!!! But it didn't seem to fit organically into the piece as it stood, so I wound up leaving it out.

If it hops up to your muse and makes take-me-home plot bunny noises, feel free to adopt it! *waggles eyebrows*

I have done that before. Not the brightest of ideas. But then denim practically holds cold in so jeans on a cold day are not a good idea either!

I just might do that -grin-
