What new shows are y'all thinking about watching? We're going to record Terra Nova, but just from the brief descriptions on the TiVo, I can't figure out what else looks good. Anybody?
You bet! American Horror Story interests us just because of its premise. Person of Interest interests us because 1) we have a long history of liking producer J.J. Abrams' works, and 2) we love Michael Emerson from Lost.
chorale's classes don't give her any time for watching television shows, and it's not much fun for me to watch most of them by myself. I'm kind of curious to see Alphas, but we don't have access to that channel, so I'll rent the first DVD when it comes out in that format, and see if it's any good. We had talked about looking at the new Gellar vehicle, but again, not till the semester's over.
I've been watching Alphas. I was worried that it was going to be an X-Men ripoff, but the show skewed a little more realistic and has its own flavor. It was enough to keep me watching.
Ringer, because Sarah Gellar. I'll try hard, but I'm not sure about it.
New Girl, because, yeah, Zoe Deschanel, but the previews look a little irritating.
Up All Night, because it looks funny.
Prime Suspect, because Maria Bello looks awesome in the previews.
Might peek at Terra Nova, just to see the effects, but I'm afraid that all it will have. Why go back 85 Million Years to give humanity a second chance? Wouldn't need that long. And why take enough technology to let humans foul things up again?
I'm with you on Terra Nova, lol. I saw previews and was like, 'can we just have a show about dinosaurs? fuck the humans, I don't care about their stupid lives. DINOSAURS DINOSAURS DINOSAURS YAY' because I'm, you know, eight years old. XD
New Girl, because, yeah, Zoe Deschanel, but the previews look a little irritating.
It's like you were IN MY HEAD when I was watching the preview!
I do like the ads for Prime Suspect, but I don't know if I like it enough to actually watch it.
My fear about Terra Nova is that it will be more about people surviving in difficult conditions, one of my least favorite tropes, and not very science-fictiony.
I'm seeing posters all over for a bunch of shows. I'm not a TV show person, but I'm mildly curious about the Playboy one--I wanted to be interested in Grimm, but they basically took what coul dhave been a really cool concept and... reversed it, so it's boring now.
Boardwalk Empire is a show I've been massively interested in, just for the costuming and such. I'm also waiting for the new season of Sherlock.
Of course, I can't watch any of these without figuring out torrents. Which isn't hard, but the point is I don't have a tv or anything. And, like I said, I'm not a tv show person. I haven't the patience for serials. I expect I'll only be watching Sherlock.
This is Once Upon a Time. It'll be on ABC on Sundays following Desperate Housewives. Stars Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Carlyle, Lee Arenberg (gotta love the PotC!).. Premieres Oct. 23.
NP. After the second episode, Ringer's looking to be the cheesy OMGICan'tBelieveI'mWatchingThis guilty pleasure soap type show - much like the O.C. and Gossip Girl were for me (I sort of got tired of GG though after a couple seasons, meh). But sometimes, you just want some cheese when every other show is so very serious. Ringer's trying to be serious, but yeah. It's enjoyable in that sort of way right now. The second episode was better for me than the first atleast (but then, I watched way too much SDCC coverage - so the pilot was basically everything from that with the twist in the last 10 minutes that they didn't tell you, with the second episode and the not knowing, as a film noir it became much better).
Grimm is up against Supernatural, so I'll probably be downloading it. Don't think it's been on yet and I haven't actually looked for the premiere..
Once Upon a Time isn't out till April for some reason. But I have to say, I love the fairy tale in the modern world idea.
We've been watching 'Alphas' since it started and we seriously love it. The driving force behind the show is definitely the characters/actors - the casting is fantastic. Also - behind the shows is Robert Hewitt Wolfe (who I adored from creating "Andromeda") and Ira Steven Behr (Tons of Star Trek, esp. DS9, also lots of other amazing shows in the genre).
I have to say what makes the show is the character "Gary," who is a high-functioning autistic and *wow*, is that actor got this thing nailed!
Other than Alphas - not many new shows in the plan. May try "Terra Nova" (only for the t-rexes) and "The New Girl" because, duh, Zooey. :D
**EDIT: OH yeah - plus that fractured fairy tale show with the zipperheads in the ads.
