OK, I guess it loses some of the initial impact when you have to go look up 'tachyon' on Wikipedia first... BUT... now that I know what you're talking about:
I've heard this joke elsewhere with 'neutrino' in place of 'tachyon,' in reference to the CERN researchers who may have discovered that neutrinos really can travel a tiny fraction faster than the speed of light. Last week, they made a very cautious announcement of their discovery.
Takes some science, I guess, or scifi, but can see where the joke'd be, or where it comes from, or whatever. *explains as if Glitch, agrees with Ambrose joke*
