So, I have to thank [livejournal.com profile] eldritchhobbit for suggesting Person of Interest - we've been watching it from the beginning and thoroughly enjoy it. TODS says that Finch is his favorite character on TV these days, and I can certainly see why.

I ran across a very cool ficlet on AO3 by jedibuttercup entitled "Breathe In, Breathe Out, More Village speculating on a connection between that horrendously bad Prisoner remake (which also starred Jim Caviezel) and Person of Interest. It almost made it worth it to have seen the former. :-)

We were in church today at the student center, having slept through the local 10:30, and they were singing a bunch of songs I'd never heard before. One of them particularly struck me, though not in a religious way, I'm afraid. It's based on one of the spookier Psalms, and it begins:

You know my heart
You know my mind
You know my words before I speak them
There is nowhere I can hide from you

So did it lead me to meditate upon the omniscience of God? No, I was thinking what a great songvid it would make for PoI. Bad Catholic! No donut.

And then there's the most recent episode, the one with the adorable baby. Pretty stupid plot IMHO, but holy cow, what fanservice! I mean, dude:

[baby has gone briefly missing]
Reese: I thought you were watching her!
Finch: I only took my eyes off her for a second.
Reese: I found her!
Finch: She's playing with a hand grenade.
Reese: It's only a tear gas grenade.
Finch: I thought you were going to put the weapons out of her reach.
Reese: I was getting around to it.
Finch: This isn't working out, you know.

TODS hits pause because we are both laughing so hard.
ME: "John, I want a divorce!"
TODS: Oh, the fanfic this episode will generate!

What is it about Michael Emerson? The funny looking little man strolls into a scene, an episode, a tv show and in a short time he owns all of it! He's mesmerizing!

I've been watching Caveziel since his first non-credited appearances. The man has this face and I had to find out who he was. Then he got some eensy bitsy parts that allowed him to do more, then he was The Count of Monte Cristo and wow, just wow.

Now the two of them together. And I got to see that last show you mentioned and I was laughing hysterically at the same spot as you and TODS but even better, I was thinking the same damn thing.

We had never seen Michael Emerson before (why am I totally not surprised that you knew exactly who he was and had already grasped his awesomeness--oh, dear, that sounds naughty--had already recognized his charisma?).

I had heard of Jim Caviezel before, but I'd only seen him in the Prisoner travesty. He's so very good in PoI, both individually and as regards chemistry with the other characters.

You need to catch him in other things, too. Emerson is good.

*watches LJ still not agree to show the icon selected due to their crappy system changes*

Will do!

Re: LJ's crappy system changes: INORITE! If they "improve" things any more they'll drive half their user base away!

Those lyrics actually make me think of the Police's Every Step You Take.

Ha! You're right!!!! Central Consortium did an excellent vid using that song ("Every Breath You Take") for Miss Parker on The Pretender. She was sort of the Lieutenant Gerard character, IIRC.

Glad to hear it! It's kinda snuck up on me--it's gone from "okay, I'll give it to a try" to "whaddaya mean it's not on this week!!!"

Hey, we finished watching Seven Samurai the other night--going to have to rent Battle Beyond the Stars to catch RV's trifecta!

Thank you so much for the rec! I honestly didn't expect much attention to that fic, as tiny as the remake fandom (deservedly) is. =)

Hee hee! Well said. I figured since three or four of the people who watched it all the way through are on my flist--probably a pretty high percentage--the fic deserved to be shared!

Meanwhile, I think you have single-handedly inveigled me into reading more POI fanfic . . .
