I'm ripping some CD's we just got into iTunes for the hubby. He likes Leonard Cohen.

Holy cow. I'm usually an abnormally cheerful person but I swear this stuff would depress a leprechaun.

But I admit, it's really, really good.

I like Leonard Cohen. In very small doses. Too much of him tends to drain the happy.

Well put! I've got the title track from Jennifer Warnes' Famous Blue Raincoat going now and I feel like giving up on life altogether.

But it's okay; I'm about to change it out for my new "Do It A Capella" CD that has Rockapella and Lady Blacksmith Mambazo and other cool stuff. If Rockapella can't cheer someone up, check for a pulse. :-)

I love that song when I'm in a certain mood. That sort of wistful mood when I can listen to a really sad song and not be dragged down by it, but just sort of go with the flow of it. If that makes any sense. Otherwise if it comes up on my iPod I flip past it so as not to have to hide the razors.

ROCKAPELLA. You will be cheered. I very much enjoy the Rockapella stuff you sent me. I swear sometimes I can almost see my iPod shaking its little poddy butt.

:nods: Makes total sense. I think my problem was having too much of it in a row at the end of a long day.

ROFL!

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I also love the mental image of the butt-shaking iPod. Much cheering, as is the "Zombie Jamboree" now warbling out of my speakers.

apropos of not-Leonard Cohen, I love your flaming spellbook icon.

I have been having a lot of icon-jealousies lately :-)

Oooo, pimping time! It comes from the comic book Finder, which can be found here:

Written, drawn and self-published by one amazing woman. My icon comes from the cover of the trade paperback of Talisman, one of my favorite storylines in the series.

Okay, done pimping now. ;D

Oooo.

Checked out the website; I don't quite know what the story is all about yet, but it looks cool. And I love the description of the book on the Talisman page. There was that one library book I just ended up declaring lost and paying the fees on....

I've been eating up comics voraciously lately. Now I'll have one more to put on the "to-read" list.

There's really no way to get the real thread of the story without reading the books. It changes drastically every story arc, but with one character - Jaeger, the Finder/Sineater - as a common thread through the stories. If you're a comics fan (and even if you weren't ... ) I can't recommend this one highly enough.

pssst!

There's that one song, though, called something like "Coming to you from the other side." All message of hope, "you will get through this, believe me, we made it through and are waiting for you," etc. etc. You'd think it might be uplifting. Makes me bawl my eyes out and drive off the road.
