I just got the DVD today, and it's really nice to see Barney Miller, free of network logos, annoying voice-overs and split-screen credits. Not to mention the fact that the picture quality is better than on TV.
Now I'll get up on my soapbox:
We, as fans of Barney Miller, need to buy the DVD and support this show. The only way there will be a season 2 DVD set is if we buy this one. Several series on DVD (like Mary Tyler Moore to name just one) have been discontinued after only 1 season set because people were waiting to see if the series would be continued, holding out for more releases. Of course, this doesn't work. Studios gauge interest based on sales of the first release, as unfair as this might seem.
As we know, Barney Miller is a great show. My sugggestion is shell out the $25 or so and buy it. There is so much great writing and acting in just the first season alone that it's worth the price, and the later seasons just kept getting better.
Enjoy the DVD. Its good to see the guys at the old one-two back on the beat.
