Inspired by
pocketwitch, I thought I might start listing what movies I see (kinda parallel to the books thing). Can't promise insightful reviews.
During the past week or two, we've seen:
Impromptu About George Sand & Chopin - this was very enjoyable.
The Tall Guy Fun romantic comedy with Jeff Goldblum and Emma Thompson. Includes a hilariously bad show-within-a-show, "Elephant!" - a musical based on The Elephant Man. And an awesome up-against-the-walls room-wrecking sex scene.
The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. OMG this SUCKED so bad.
The Curse of Frankenstein: How S-L-O-W can a horror movie go? How can Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing NOT be scary?
As you might be able to tell, we're trying to catch up - there are so many movies we really *ought* to have seen by now!

Date: 2008-02-23 09:48 pm (UTC)I've seen a couple of Hammer films that were so slow they went backwards. Like you I can't imagine the dynamic duo of Lee and Cushing not at least being interesting if they can't achieve scary. I used to love to tease my husband and his friend (they both adored Hammer films, especially those with the dynamic duo) by doing my imitation of the music:
EeeeeEhEheeeeee dum dum dum EEEEEEE EH EHEEEEEEEE DUM DUM DUM EEEEEEEEEE
repeated over and over and over and over. Drove them nuts while they were laughing in hysterics because they knew I had it right on.
