There was a mini prompt-a-thon at [livejournal.com profile] dg_glitch so I put in a request - and [livejournal.com profile] jinma_chan wrote me the cutest story!

It's fluffy and sweet and has some wonderful neat little details.

Just a note to say that I'm working on a sequel to Worlds Away. Some of y'all's kind comments sparked an idea ... Spoiler alert (don't click if you haven't read Worlds Away)! )

If you need a photo-reference for young Ambrose looking woebegone, or if you just think Alan Cumming (or Lenny Henry) is cute, click below for screencaps from Bernard and the Genie (1991). (Warning: some spoilers.)

much adorableness )
amedia: (Boris)
A very sweet and funny Christmas movie starring a very young Alan Cumming. We got this one from the public television station.

I can understand why some people watch this every year! It has a wonderfully irreverent flavor and still manages to endorse the real meaning of Christmas - in its own anti-establishment way. Alan Cumming (Bernard) is adorable, Lenny Henry (the genie) is superb, the two of them have great chemistry together, and Rowan Atkinson is deliciously evil as the villain. The minor characters are also terrific; my favorite was the elevator-operator in Bernard's apartment building, who is constantly trying to cheer him up with whopping lies.

Here's 25-year-old Alan Cumming in 1991, looking rather like a Beatle circa 1964.
Lots more screencaps posted here. There are also some spoilers, but honestly, the joy of the movie isn't in the plot, it's in the wonderful interactions and the sheer glee of it all. And there are still some major plot points unrevealed.

[livejournal.com profile] koslorollo offered the prompt "After the witch melts from Azkadellia, the Longcoats turn back into toy soldiers, which is what they were to start with." I found myself wondering how that would fit in with the universe of her shimmering saga A Cold Wind Rising, in which she fleshed out a number of Longcoat characters (as well as other secondary characters) with backstories, relationships, hopes, and dreams. (The link doesn't work, but I'll replace it when I find one that does. That story made me laugh out loud, and it made me cry, and it seamlessly wove the author's creations and the canonical O.Z. into a living, breathing, multilayered world.) Anyway, here's how I responded to the prompt, keeping Zero's relationship with Malcolm Erdmyss in the aforementioned story in mind.

Holy crap! *points to subject line*

TODS is napping to the friendly noise of some game or other while I dink around on the computer, and I suddenly heard this familiar melody and began picturing the battered old formerly-yellow brick road, with "scene selection" and "setup" floating under it.

I don't mean that ESPN was playing it - like how you sometimes hear the Brisco County theme as a sporting event theme song - rather, it was being played by one of the college bands in the background as one of their random music-during-the-game moments. They've since switched back to the Imperial March (Darth Vader's theme) from Star Wars.
amedia: (Tin Man - Glitch poetry)
[livejournal.com profile] ladynyks asked for "Crossover with Hellboy: The Golden Army. (Maybe) Ambrose or Glitch sparring or fighting with a realm-visiting Prince Nuada pre-series?" She had also recently posted a tantalizing piece (Silence is Golden), in which Princess Nuala visits the O.Z. and alludes to her brother Nuada's visit many years earlier, which Glitch remembers less than fondly. So I used that as a bit of a springboard.

And this one is naughty! [livejournal.com profile] ladynyks answered my request for "Glitch/Cain: an explicit PWP involving any kind of food." It's less on the explicit side and more on the naughty/humorous side - fun and sexy! Here's the link: http://community.livejournal.com/demilos_wagon/12014.html?thread=163822#t163822

Or, if you haven't yet read the other two lovely prezzie-fics I've gotten, you can see all three of them here: http://community.livejournal.com/demilos_wagon/12014.html - and enjoy!

[livejournal.com profile] oddsbobs asked for "An AU of an important decision they made," and something short and gruesome popped into my head.

[livejournal.com profile] oddsbobs had also made the request "Glitch/Cain - It's all a game of chess" and that struck me as a nifty opportunity for something that would be metaphorically slashy, or slashily metaphorical.

When I posted the three commentfics earlier that I had written for [livejournal.com profile] demilos_wagon, I totally forgot the first one I had written! So at that point I actually had four. *foreheadsmack* Since then I've written one more. So here they are!

I've responded to three prompts on [livejournal.com profile] demilos_wagon so far. It's a great way to get writing, if anyone wants to join in! (hint, hint)

Here are the ficlets I've written (all gen):

[livejournal.com profile] diabolicalfiend asked for "Zero and Lonot, preferably with Zero respectfully insulting Lonot."

[livejournal.com profile] kseda asked for "That one time the Mystic Man's pet tin man and the queen's adviser got drunk and whined about working for crazy people."

[livejournal.com profile] moony_blues asked for "a TM/Alice crossover."
